The Spring Exhibition was established by FFF in 1976 as a peer reviewed annual exhibition. It has been an important arena for contemporary photography in Norway, and has contributed to the advancement of art photography both in regards to the Norwegian cultural debate and the Norwegian art scene.

The exhibition is based on open submissions. The participating artists are chosen by an artist jury, which this year consisted of Morten Torgersrud, Kobie Nel and Geir Moseid.

During the opening, one of the participating artists will be awarded the Art Photography Prize of the Bildende Kunstneres Hjelpefond (BKH). The prize is given to one of the participating artists who’s work is seen to be the most meaningful for the exhibition. The Art Photography Prize was established in 2010 and the receiver is awarded 150 000 NOK. This makes it one of the largest art awards in Norway.
